My Decisions
A model of human activities towards an objective is introduced and it categorizes all associated activities against those of decision making. The purpose is to differentiate, and so to distinguish human activities of the decision making category from those of all else. The goal is to provide a big picture of, in addition to decision making, what else needs to be done in typical engineering scenarios of product development and field operations. It also answers the question of why reliability is ultimately a decision making issue.
Information about a general process as well as some essential elements of decision making such as its criterion, is provided.
The case of product development is described in some detail with a particular focuses on clear identification of which part of work is about decision making and which is not, and as a result of the different nature of the work, the differences in work requirements and strategies.
